These include the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana, a comprehensive program for vegetables and fruits, setting up of Makhana Board in Bihar, and National Mission on High Productivity Seeds. However, the allocation for the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has seen only a marginal increase of 4%, from Rs 1.32 lakh crore in the previous budget to Rs 1.37 lakh crore.

Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Krishi Yojana: A game-changer for farmers

In his budget speech, the Finance Minister said that inspired by the success of the Aspirational District Program, the government has launched this scheme in collaboration with the states. Its aim is to increase agricultural productivity in 100 such districts where productivity is low, crop intensity is medium, and agricultural credit status is below average.

Under this scheme, better facilities will be provided to farmers through existing schemes and special measures. This includes crop diversification, adopting sustainable agricultural practices, improving post-harvest storage facilities at panchayat and block levels, improving irrigation facilities, and providing short-term and long-term loans. About 1.7 crore farmers are expected to benefit from this scheme

Comprehensive program for vegetables and fruits

The budget also announced a comprehensive programme to promote the production, storage and marketing of vegetables and fruits. This move is an important step towards increasing the income of farmers and ensuring food security in the country.

Establishment of Makhana Board in Bihar

A Makhana Board will be set up to promote the cultivation of Makhana (fox nut) in Bihar. Makhana is a nutrient-rich crop, the demand for which is constantly increasing in the country and abroad. Through this board, farmers will be provided better technology, training and access to the market.

National Mission on High Productivity Seeds

A national mission will be launched to provide high productivity seeds to farmers. Its aim is to increase crop yield and increase the income of farmers.
